How do I submit a question?

Thanks for your interest in Ask an Engineer. Please submit your question using the form below.

Some warnings and caveats

This form is for the submission of questions to the "Ask an Engineer" feature of the MIT School of Engineering website only. It is not connected to, nor does it share information with, any other office or center on MIT's campus or beyond (see our Contact page for more information on where to go with specific, non-"Ask an Engineer" questions).

As much as we would like to answer every submitted question within minutes of it being asked, we are able only to handle a limited number of questions through a somewhat more time-intensive process. (Tip: If you have a good question and want to improve the chances of getting it answered, have a look at what is already posted to get a sense of the length, nature, and style of the questions we like answering.)

If your question is selected for an answer, you will be notified through the email address you submit below. We reserve the right to edit any question for clarity, length, and content—though we would never attribute a question to someone without their prior consent and approval.

Thanks again for your interest in Ask an Engineer. We look forward to reading your questions.

Your question must be fewer than 200 characters.
