Chenyu Zhang

Chenyu Zhang is a graduate student in social and engineering systems who studies multi-agent decision-making through the lens of learning, statistics, optimization, control, games, and networks. His research addresses the fundamental challenge of efficiency—computational efficiency in distributed optimization, statistical efficiency in collaborative learning, and economic efficiency in strategic interaction. MATLAB’s Optimization and Manopt Toolboxes enable Chenyu to prototype algorithms, validate theory, and simulate large-scale systems. As a MathWorks Fellow, he will develop distributed algorithms enabling agents to solve optimization and learning problems across diverse settings. Chenyu’s research holds the promise to reshape infrastructure regulation, network intervention, and strategic coordination by establishing principled methods for efficient decision-making in complex multi-agent systems.
