January 2020

Dear members of the MIT community and friends,

A new year and a new decade are upon us, and we are enthusiastically looking toward the future. In 2020, our commitment to discovery, innovation, opportunity, and education, remain at the heart of what we do and who we are.

In this issue of The Infinite, you’ll learn more about how we are pushing the frontiers of energy conversion and storage; advancing research in artificial intelligence and health; providing new opportunities for student discovery; and developing renewable energy technologies for a changing world. You’ll be introduced to the research of Fikile Brushett, the Cecil and Ida Green Career Development Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering, who is drawing on various disciplines to create new electrochemical processes and devices. You’ll also discover collaborations that are enabling us to craft new educational programming and advance research, and learn more about what mechanical engineers are doing to develop renewable energy technologies.

I am looking forward to yet another transformational year full of inspiration, opportunity, and discovery.

Sincerely,
