Shenyong Ye is a graduate student in materials science and engineering exploring how unconventional superconductivity emerges in rhombohedral graphene through a tightly integrated approach combining experimental measurements with computational modeling. This material system exhibits exotic quantum phases whose origins remain poorly understood, requiring both precise measurements under extreme conditions and sophisticated theoretical analysis to extract meaningful physical insights. MATLAB supports Shenyong’s research across the entire workflow, from instrument control and automated data acquisition at millikelvin temperatures to image processing for identifying metastable stacking domains and band structure calculations that reveal connections between Fermi surface topology and superconducting behavior. As a MathWorks Fellow, he will expand this integrated computational platform to systematically explore the universality of superconducting phenomena across the rhombohedral graphene family. Shenyong’s work may reshape our understanding of correlated electron systems and establish new design principles for engineering quantum materials with unusual electromagnetic properties.
