Keyuan Zhong is a graduate student in nuclear science and engineering whose research investigates polarization transfer and many-body spin dynamics in nitrogen-vacancy center systems in diamond. NV centers offer excellent quantum coherence for sensing and quantum information applications, yet they couple to complex spin environments formed by substitutional nitrogen defects. He performs optically detected magnetic resonance measurements to study how spin dynamics evolve under varying experimental conditions and to probe NV interactions with surrounding spin baths. Keyuan has developed a comprehensive MATLAB-based control platform with a graphical user interface integrating laser, microwave, and data acquisition hardware for experimental automation. The platform includes a redesigned signal readout scheme supporting both single-photon and analog detection, enabling multi-parameter scanning and real-time data visualization. As a MathWorks Fellow, Keyuan will develop advanced numerical simulations and machine learning approaches to extract information from constrained quantum measurements. His research could unlock new capabilities for quantum-enhanced sensing and spin-squeezed states beyond classical limits.
