Cody Martin is a postdoctoral fellow in the MIT Department of Chemical Engineering whose work advances AI models to score and design antibodies. He studies how protein sequence, structure, and high-throughput functional data can be integrated into AI models to improve biological prediction and design of clinically relevant antibodies. During his doctoral studies, Cody developed the Protein Set Transformer, a genome-scale protein language model tailored to viral genomes, establishing a new framework for sequence-to-function prediction across highly diverse viral systems. His work advanced protein function prediction, viral discovery, and virus-host interaction modeling, while also introducing influential conceptual frameworks for understanding auxiliary viral genes. As an MIT-Novo Nordisk Artificial Intelligence Postdoctoral Fellow, Cody will develop AI-driven approaches for biomolecular design, therapeutic discovery, and the integration of multi-omics data to better model biological responses. His work could accelerate the design of precision therapeutics and improve the efficiency of early-stage drug discovery.
