Leaders for Manufacturing Program
The Leaders for Manufacturing (LFM) program is an educational and research partnership among global operations companies, the School of Engineering, and the Sloan School of Management. Its objectives are to discover, codify, teach, and disseminate guiding principles for world-class manufacturing and operations.
The LFM program is designed for students with two or more years of work experience who aspire to leadership positions in the fields of manufacturing and operations. Students work simultaneously toward an SM in management or MBA from Sloan and a master’s degree from one of the following departments/divisions in the School of Engineering:
- Aeronautics and Astronautics
- Biological Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Civil and Environmental Engineering
- Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
- Engineering Systems
- Materials Science and Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
The LFM program typically takes two years to complete. Within that time, students are required to participate in a 6.5-month internship at an LFM partner company. The internship is an opportunity for students to conduct research upon which to base their master’s thesis.
