Leaders for Global Operations

Leaders for Global Operations (LGO) students learn to solve challenging operations problems by developing knowledge at the intersection of engineering and management. Our dual-degree program awards an MBA or a Master of Science from MIT Sloan School of Management and a Master of Science from MIT School of Engineering. The two-year LGO experience features a cross-disciplinary curriculum, a global orientation, significant internship opportunities and an emphasis on leadership and teamwork. Our partner companies play a critical role in all facets of the program.

The LGO program is designed for students with two or more years of work experience who aspire to leadership positions in the fields of manufacturing and operations. Students work simultaneously toward an SM in management or MBA from Sloan and a master’s degree from one of the following departments/divisions in the School of Engineering:

The LGO program typically takes two years to complete. Within that time, students are required to participate in a 6.5-month internship at an LGO partner company. The internship is an opportunity for students to conduct research upon which to base their master’s thesis.
